5 Injured In Shooting At J'ouvert-West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn
NYPD officials said the shooting was an intentional act by one man, and not a random shooting.

BROOKLYN, NY — Five people were injured, two critically, after a man intentionally shot at a group of people watching the J'ouvert - West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn on Monday, NYPD officials said.
The shooting happened near Eastern Parkway and Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood about 1:45 p.m., officials said.
NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said the injured were four males and one female. He did not have ages or any identifying information on the shooting victims.

Chell said the man — described as a Black man in his 20s with a slim build wearing a brown shirt with paint stains and black bandana — ran into the crowd on the cement barrier at 301 Eastern Parkway and "fired his weapon numerous times."
"This was an intentional act by one person toward a group of people," Chell said, adding the parade was not stopped by the shooting.

"The parade is going on and will go on until tonight," he said.
Because of the location of the shooting, Chell said authorities "realize there is an abundance of video" and urged anyone with video to contact the NYPD at 1-800-577-TIPS.
"We are going to solve this but is going to take a lot of work," he said. "When you fire a gun into a large crowd have to find out who was intended and who was not."
