BROOKLYN, NY — A teenage boy was repeatedly stabbed during a Valentine's Day assault involving eight commuters at the Stillwell Avenue-Coney Island subway station, authorities said.

The 16-year-old was waiting at the subway station around 3:19 p.m. when a group of eight suspects described as teenagers approached, according to police.

The group allegedly initiated a conversation with the victim before stabbing him multiple times with an unidentified sharp object, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Following the brutal attack, the suspects ran off on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

The teen was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where he remained in stable condition, authorities said.

Police did not say what the teens were discussing before the blades were pulled. It was also unclear whether the victims knew his attackers before the stabbing.

Officials released an image of the teenagers they believe are connected to the incident but released no description of the suspects.

The attack occurred in the confines of the 60th Precinct. According to Police Department data, there have been 28 reported felony assaults in 28 days within the 60th Precinct.
