Brooklyn Blackout Leaves More Than 1,700 Without Power
A power outage hit Bath Beach and Gravesend Wednesday morning as a massive heat wave crept over the city.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A power outage hit southern Brooklyn Wednesday morning as a dangerously hot heat wave crept over the city, just four days after a massive five-hour blackout plunged thousands of New Yorkers in the dark.
Roughly 1,700 Brooklynites in Bath Beach and Gravesend lost power at 10 a.m. because of a wiring problem in the area, a spokesperson said.
The blackout hit residents who live in the area bordered by 27th, Cropsey and Stillwell avenues and the Shore Parkway, officials said.

Office of Emergency Management Commissioner Deanne Criswell said the city expects power to be restored by 2 p.m.
The blackout occurred days after a Manhattan power failure left nearly 73,000 customers in Times Square and the Upper West Side without power Saturday. Con Ed warned New Yorkers more outages might be imminent as a heat wave hit the city.
