Brooklyn Fire Fighters Save Mother, Child In Brownsville Blaze: FDNY

The smoke eaters rescued several people from a third-floor early morning fire on Tuesday, the department said.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A mother and child, among others, were saved from an early morning Brownsville blaze on Tuesday, according to the FDNY.

At around 7:30 a.m., FDNY received a call reporting a third-floor fire inside a 16-story building at 305 Livonia Ave., part of the New York Housing Authorty's Tilden Houses, according to officials.

Nearly 80 smoke eaters responded, rescuing a total of seven people from the building, the department said, with four victims brought to Brookdale Hospital.

The flames were brought under control just after 8:15 a.m. according to officials.

Those rescued included a mother and child, as touted by the official FDNY Twitter page.

The fire department says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
