NYC Man Committed 19 Frauds In FL & VA, 1 Suspect Still At Large

NEW YORK CITY — A New York City man has been arrested in Virginia after committing 19 separate frauds between Florida and Virginia, authorities announced.

Bashir Salvador, 32, of Far Rockaway, has been charged with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, credit card theft, credit card fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and larceny with the intent to distribute, Fredericksburg City Police said.

On July 19, at a Lowe's location at 1361 Carl D. Silver Parkway, officers responded to a report of two men using stolen credit card accounts to purchase multiple high-dollar Dyson vacuum cleaners.

When police got to the scene, they saw one of the suspects fleeing in a U-Haul van, while the other ran off on foot.

Officers chased Salvador on foot as he ran through the shopping center, police said.

They eventually caught up with him and put him in custody after he tried to run across the parkway.

Investigators have not determined the identity of the second suspect, who succeeded in evading police.

The U-Haul was found abandoned later in Spotsylvania, Virginia, according to police.
