BROOKLYN, NY — A man and woman were found fatally shot in Brooklyn Friday afternoon, with a gun discovered near the man's body, police said.

Police suspect the shooting was a murder-suicide, according to the New York Daily News.

Luz Maribel Espinal, 43, and Rafael Ramos, 40, were found with gunshot wounds to their heads around 4:43 p.m. Friday at an apartment on Logan St. near Etna St. in Cypress Hills, authorities said.

Both were pronounced dead on the scene and a gun was found near the man's body, according to police.

The two were dating, according to the Daily News.

After the killings, neighbors revealed that Ramos was Espinal's new "antisocial" partner, whom she began dating in December, according to the report.

Police said Ramos' last known residence was in Hyde Park, Massachusetts.

NYPD officials told Patch the case is under investigation.
