“The fans have been amazing everywhere we’ve gone. But to be able to bring a championship to New York, first ever in franchise history, it’s an incredible feeling. I literally can’t wait to continue to celebrate with the city because I know it’s going to like, be bonkers. Bonkers,” Liberty power forward Breanna Stewart said at a post-game press conference, punctuating her thoughts with a sip of champagne straight from the bottle.

The parade will be the perfect end to the dramatic, intensely competitive five-game series.

In the final game, both teams tied at 60 points after Stewart sunk two free throws in the last five seconds of the final quarter.

The teams went into overtime from the fourth quarter tie, and the Liberty scored 7 more points, cementing their title as national champions and beating the Lynx 67-62.

Jonquel Jones led the Liberty offense with 17 points, six rebounds and an assist on 50% shooting from the field, while Nyara Sabally recorded a career-high 13 points with seven rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench. Breanna Stewart recorded 13 points and 15 rebounds, tying her postseason career high. This is Stewart's 43rd consecutive playoff game with 10 or more points, which is the longest such streak in WNBA postseason history, according to team officials.
