BROOKLYN, NY — A popular bar has bid its final goodbye this weekend as it shut down after nearly a decade on Third Avenue.

Situated on the corner of First Street and Third Avenue, the neighborhood cocktail bar Dirty Precious announced its imminent closure earlier this summer, with owner Katipai Richardson-Wilson detailing the news on Instagram.

"There are no sugared or cryptic words that can take the sting out of the announcement that we will be closing our doors when our lease expires in August," Richardson-Wilson wrote.

Dirty Precious first opened in 2016, the vision of a couple of women: Richardson-Wilson and her partner Shana Sandberg — a designer behind restaurants like Jean-Georges at The Mark and Dos Toros.

"We're trying to create a local bar where you can get a great cocktail, or a sh-tty beer if you want one," Richardson-Wilson told DNAinfo New York back in 2015.

The cocktail bar was known for its craft cocktails, categorized on the menu from “easy” to “boozy” and “booziest.” Standouts included the Blonde Redhead, a vodka- and gin-based drink featuring an aperitif and a hint of chili.

The bar also offered a sophisticated take on classic bar food, featuring mac and cheese, a variety of cheese toasties, veggie boards, a canned fish board with housemade sourdough, and an assortment of “picky bits” like olives, almonds, and cheese straws.

"It has been my greatest joy to date to watch it all play out — often in ways I could never have imagined… It has been an honour and joy to keep the community in good spirits for nearly a decade. We will miss you all," Richardson-Wilson wrote.
