Man Busted For Attempted Rape Of Jogger In Brooklyn Park: NYPD
Authorities have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the attempted rape of a 51-year-old woman at Shirley Chisholm State Park.

BROOKLYN, NYC — A man wanted for attempting to sexually assault a jogger at knifepoint in Shirley Chisholm State Park in Brooklyn was busted Monday, prosecutors said.
Amadou Kane, 22, faces charges of attempted rape, sexual abuse, robbery, attempted forcible touching, and other related offenses, authorities said.
The charges stem from a harrowing event in Sept. 2023, where Kane allegedly attacked the 51-year-old woman in the afternoon hours at Shirley Chisholm State Park, police said.

The victim told police that while she was out for a jog, a man grabbed her from behind, throwing her to the ground, and punching her repeatedly. During the struggle, she managed to pull off her attacker's mask and recognized him as a man who had ridden past her on a bicycle earlier that day.
“This defendant is alleged to have followed the victim during a daylight jog and attempt to rape her," Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said. "Luckily, he was foiled by a stranger. Thanks to painstaking work of state troopers and my office, he was identified and will now be brought to justice."

According to prosecutors, Kane allegedly threatened to kill the victim with a knife and demanded she pull down her pants. As he began to pull down his pants, a stranger approached on a motorcycle, causing Kane to flee.
Before escaping, he also allegedly stole the victim’s Apple Watch, police added.
The woman, who managed to escape, quickly called 911 and sought help from a nearby park ranger, authorities said.
New York State Troopers later recovered surveillance footage showing Kane fleeing the park on his bicycle and using Apple Pay to buy a bottle of water at a nearby store, prosecutors said.
Police ultimately identified Kane after a lengthy investigation using financial records, cell site data, and social media. At a March 17 hearing, his bail was set at $150,000 cash or $350,000 bond. He was ordered to return to court on April 25.
