Man Indicted In Stabbing Death Of Elderly Boerum Hill Neighbor: DA
Joevani Vale, 27, was indicted Friday in connection with the deadly stabbing in April of 83-year-old Ramon Cintron.

BROOKLYN, NY — A man accused of stabbing an elderly man multiple times and killing him in April has been indicted in connection with the killing and three other incidents, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced in a news release Friday.
Joevani Vale, 27, of Boerum Hill was arraigned Friday and indicted on a slew of charges, including murder, assault, stalking and harassment.
According to Gonzalez, on April 8 around 2:30 p.m., Vale followed 83-year-old Ramon Cintron into an elevator and stabbed him in the neck, torso, back and legs around 30 times.

When Cintron tried to get out of the elevator, Vale kicked him back into the lift and fled, Gonzalez alleged. The deadly stabbing happened at the Wyckoff Gardens Housing Development at 185 Nevins Street where both Vale and Cintron lived, according to Gonzalez.
"I am heartbroken that 83-year-old Ramon Cintron died in such a violent and horrifying way and my condolences go out to his family, friends and neighbors," Gonzalez said in a statement. "We will now seek to hold the defendant responsible for the murder of Mr. Cintron, as well as the other alleged attacks with which he is charged."

The killing was the last in a series of incidents April 8 that began with Vale following a woman, according to Gonzalez.
Before Cintron's killing, around 12:47 p.m., Vale is accused of following a woman around Third Avenue and Pacific Street and asking her if she was lost, Gonzalez said. When the woman let Vale cross her, he punched her in the shoulder, Gonzalez said.
Then, around 1:25 p.m., Vale slashed a woman in the back of her thigh on Nevins Street. The woman was treated at a hospital.
After his arrest on April 11, Vale was being held at the psychiatric ward at Maimonides Medical Center and being guarded by two NYPD officers. Vale is accused of punching one of the officers in the face after they escorted him to the bathroom, Gonzalez said.
The complete charges in the indictment are second-degree murder, second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree attempted assault, second-degree harassment, third-degree attempted assault and fourth-degree stalking.
Vale is being held without bail. His next court date is September 23.
