Family of man killed by NYPD at Methodist Hospital wants answers, says no history of mental illness (nydailynews.com) — A retired NYPD officer and FDNY lieutenant was fatally shot by police during a standoff inside NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Park Slope, after he reportedly took hostages and refused to drop a weapon. His grieving family, insisting he had no history of mental illness, is demanding answers about what happened between his admission for possible stroke symptoms and the deadly confrontation.
   

3. NYC braces for largest nurse strike in city history as talks continue (fox5ny.com) — Brooklyn patients could feel major impacts as nurses at several city hospitals, including One Brooklyn Health facilities and The Brooklyn Hospital Center, edge toward what could be the largest nurse strike in NYC history. Union leaders and hospital management are still negotiating over staffing, benefits, and safety, while a state of emergency underscores the risk to local care if talks fail.
   

4. City moving ahead with delayed Madison Ave. bus lane project (nbcnewyork.com) — Brooklyn drivers and bus riders should watch for a revived street redesign on McGuinness Blvd., as the city moves to restart that project alongside new Madison Avenue bus lanes. Officials say these changes aim to speed up commutes, support congestion pricing, and eventually expand better bus lanes across all five boroughs, including Brooklyn neighborhoods.

Young dad walking with family in Brooklyn attacked by man shouting antisemitic threats (nydailynews.com) — A father walking with his wife and four children near Nostrand and Willoughby Avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant was assaulted in what police are investigating as an antisemitic hate crime in Brooklyn. A suspect was arrested and charged with assault and aggravated harassment as a hate crime before being released after arraignment. The victim lives just around the corner from the attack site.
