NEW YORK CITY — Mayor Eric Adams has named a new interim NYPD commissioner following Edward Caban's resignation amid a federal investigation into alleged corruption.

Adams announced he has named Tom Donlon to fill the role that Caban had held for an over a year.

"Tom joins a team at 1 Police Plaza that is relentlessly dedicated to public safety and protecting New Yorkers," Adams said during a press conference Thursday.

Caban's departure came after his home was one of those raided by federal authorities on Sept. 4 along with other Adams officials, Patch previously reported.

The commissioner's phone was seized in the raid, as federal authorities investigate possible corruption.

Caban’s twin brother, James Caban, is also being eyed by authorities.

In a statement, Donlan said he is looking "forward to building on the progress this administration has made keeping New York City the safest big city in America.”
