Trump Did Better Than Romney in Brooklyn Polling Booths, Election Data Shows

Clinton, by contrast, received slightly fewer votes than Obama did in 2008 and 2012. And more interesting insights across election years.

BROOKLYN, NY — Hillary Clinton's Brooklyn vote total slightly under-performed Barack Obama's 2008 and 2012 runs, preliminary returns show, while Donald Trump received more votes in the borough than Mitt Romney.

A total of 595,086 Brooklyn voters picked Clinton on Tuesday, down from 604,443 for Obama in 2012 and 603,525 for the outgoing president in 2008.

By contrast, Trump received 133,653 votes in Brooklyn. That's up from the 124,551 ballots cast in the borough for Mitt Romney in 2012, though it's also less than the 151,872 votes John McCain received in 2008 and the 167,149 votes George Bush earned in 2004.

In 2000, Al Gore received 497,468 votes in Brooklyn, while Bush got 96,605.

Between November 2008 and November 2016, the number of registered voters in Brooklyn grew from 1,394,937 to 1,526,514, according to registration statistics from the state's Board of Elections.
