Elderly Woman Fatally Struck By Turning MTA Bus In Brooklyn: NYPD
The 79-year-old was in the crosswalk when a city bus driver made a left-hand turn, police said.

BROOKLYN, NY — A woman was stuck and killed by an MTA driver making a left-hand turn near Brooklyn College Thursday night, police said.
Loraine Hector, 79, was found about 6:15 p.m. lying in the Glenwood Road and Flatbush Avenue crosswalk only about 500 feet from her home, police said.
Hector suffered a severe head wound and later died at Kings County Hospital, according to officials.

The bus driver, a 46-year-old man, remained at the site of the crash and was not charged with a crime as of Friday morning, police said.
If on duty, this would most likely be a bus traveling on the B6 or B11 route, according to MTA bus routes.

The MTA released service notices last night, none mentioning that the investigation was due to one of its drivers striking and killing an elderly pedestrian.
MTA officials could not be reached for comment to confirm which bus was responsible, nor for any comment on the death of Loraine Hector.
The intersection has seen 36 crashes resulting in 61 injuries over the past five years to date, according to Crashmapper and Transportation department data. Seventeen of those injured were pedestrians.
The fatal crash came two days after a young cyclist was fatally struck by a truck near Prospect Park.
