2 Men Fatally Hit By Train While Walking On Tracks In Brownsville: PD

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — Two men walking on the subway tracks were fatally hit by a train during Wednesday morning rush hour, according to police.

The two men, who police said were homeless, were walking on the tracks near Sutter Avenue-Rutland Road station just before 7 a.m. when they were hit by a northbound 3 train, police said.

Both men were pronounced dead on scene, according to FDNY.

Fire officials said a third person hurt in the incident was sent to Brookdale Hospital. The third person was not struck by the train, according to FDNY.

The incident briefly stopped 3 trains in the area, though they began running with limited service around 8:15 a.m. The MTA was providing shuttle bus service between New Lots Avenue station and Crown Heights-Utica Avenue station during the delays, according to transit alerts.
