Video: Man Slashed, Thrown On Tracks In Fight At Broadway Junction

BROOKLYN, NY — A knife-wielding East New York man who threw someone onto the subway tracks in a wild fight at Broadway Junction last week has been caught, according to police.
Anthony Melendez, 35, was charged with assault and reckless endangerment on Sunday, four days after he was caught on video chasing his victim around the subway platform, knife in hand, according to police.
The fight, which unfolded around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, began when the 52-year-old man walked by Melendez on the southbound Broadway Junction platform, according to police and video.

Melendez, taking out his knife, called out to the man, who appeared to have stepped on his belongings, video shows.
The two men scuffle as Melendez chases the 52-year-old around the platform, eventually knocking himself and the man onto the subway tracks, police said. The 52-year-old man was slashed in the chest, ear, finger and head during the attack, according to police.

The two men fortunately got off of the subway tracks before any incoming trains, police said.
The 52-year-old man sought medical care for his injuries privately, police said.
Police caught Melendez, who lives in the Pink Houses in East New York, on Sunday.
