Carroll Gardens Woman to Celebrate 80th Birthday by Skydiving

Carolyn Meiselbach had dreamed of going skydiving for most of her life, but only got as far as taking a parachute rigging class...until earlier this year.

At 79, Meiselbach finally took the jump, against her doctors' orders. And now, to celebrate her 80th birthday, why not do it again?

This time, the longtime Carroll Gardens resident is bringing family and friends, a group she calls the Ethical Eagles, to Gardiner, N.Y. to take the leap with her.

Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra to Mark 40th Anniversary at Brooklyn Museum

The Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra will present its first concert of its 40th anniversary season at the Brooklyn Museum on Oct. 20 at 2 p.m.

After performing for 37 of its 39-year history at the Church of St. Ann and the Holy Trinity in Brooklyn Heights, the orchestra moving to the Brooklyn Museum of Art, where it will present a season of five concerts in the Iris and Gerald Cantor Auditorium. 

Methodist Files Expansion Plans with Board of Standards and Appeals

New York Methodist Hospital recently filed its expansion plans with the Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA).

According to the application, construction would last for four years and span 500,000 square-feet of space with over 300 workers.

The first official mayoral debate is now in the books after Democrat Bill de Blasio and Republican Joe Lhota squared off Tuesday night.
