Boerum Hill Drug Dealer Gets 35 Years For Fatal Shooting

He shot an unarmed man during a fistfight over marijuana sale, the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office said.

BOCOCA, BROOKLYN — A Boerum Hill man was sentenced to 35 years in prison for fatally shooting a man during a fistfight over marijuana, the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office said.

The man had fled the country after the fight, the office said, and was captured when he returned.

Anthony Reyes, 29, got into a fistfight with 24-year-old Allen Wilson, Jr., in Bed-Stuy in 2009. Reyes came to the scene with a loaded gun after a dispute between Wilson's brother and two other men, the office said.

Reyes shot his .380-caliber weapon at Wilson and missed on the first shot, but the second pierced Wilson's heart and killed him, the office said. Wilson was on the ground, trying to crawl away.

After the shooting, Reyes fled to the Dominican Republic, the district attorney's office said. He was captured by authorities after re-entering in 2014. He admitted to shooting Wilson and said he was a member of the Bloods street gang, authorities said.

"This defendant brought a gun to a fistfight and callously shot to death a man who was trying to save his own life by crawling away," Acting District Attorney Gonzalez said Tuesday. "Today’s sentence protects the public from a clearly dangerous individual who quickly resorted to lethal force to settle a senseless dispute."
