Brooklyn's Fancy-Restaurant Burglars Strike Again
This time, at a seafood joint in Red Hook.
A pair of Brooklyn robbers who previously stole nearly $30,000 from a wine bar, beer garden and bistro in Park Slope and Windsor Terrace are back after two months on the low, according to the NYPD.
On Sunday, Oct. 18, around 5 a.m., police say the suspects entered a rear gate into Brooklyn Crab — a seaside restaurant at 24 Reed Street in Red Hook — and “removed a $500 safe containing $36,000 in cash and $2,600 in electronics.”
Thus bringing the pair’s (alleged) total to almost $70,000.
Their previous hits, according to the NYPD:
- On Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at 8:20 p.m. inside of Cafe Dada located at 57 7th Avenue, suspects entered the location and removed a safe and approximately $1,500.
- On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at 1:30 a.m. inside of Bistro Bartoto Italiano located at 411 11th Street, suspect entered the location through the front door using a crowbar and removed $1,500 from the register.
- On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at 3:30 a.m. inside of Greenwood Park Beer Garden located at 555 7th Avenue, suspects entered the location and removed the safe containing approximately $24,450.
With all that cash on hand, Brooklyn’s fancy-restaurant burglars were even able to upgrade to matching bandit uniforms for the latest heist. According to surveillance footage from Brooklyn Crab and released by the NYPD (see above), the duo wore black hoodies, white face masks and super creepy white gloves with red fingertips.
Anyone with information regarding the suspects or the incidents is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted online or by texting 274637, then entering TIP577.
