Cafe Pedlar Still Closed For 'Renovations'

The popular coffee shop "temporarily" closed in April for "renovations." Four months later, it's still not open.

COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN — Cafe Pedlar, a popular coffee shop on Court Street in Cobble Hill, is still closed after announcing it would shut down for the time being in April for renovations.

Patch walked by the location on Tuesday afternoon, and the same sign was posted in the window that has been there for four months.

No construction crews were present, and it was hard to see inside to discern what kind of work, if any, had been done.

The notice said that the cafe would close on Friday, April 14 for temporary renovations. Nothing was posted on Facebook, Twitter or their website about the closure either.

After this article published, Patch heard back from the cafe's director of communications, Chandan Sharma. Sharma told us: "I currently don't have an update but as soon as we finalize our plans we'll make them known!"

We aren't the only ones who have been curious about the coffee shop on the corner of Court and Warren streets. Back in May, the intrepid Pardon Me For Asking blog asked "What's Up With Café Pedlar On Court Street?"

She didn't get an answer either.

Have you seen any construction workers (or lack thereof) at the location? Send us an email.
