Facebook IPO May Make 20 of Your Neighbors Millionaires

Congratulations to any shareholders in Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill.

If you've ever wondered who can afford to purchase some of the more luxurious offerings in , the Facebook IPO that as dominated financial news coverage in recent weeks might finally provide an answer.

In fact, there may be as many as 20 new millionaires within our neighborhood as a result of the social media company's stock market debut.

Facebook Inc. priced its shares at $38 apiece for an initial public offering Friday making it the most valuable U.S. company at the time of its debut, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. "Facebook is valued at $104 billion, the biggest-ever valuation by an American company at the time of its offering," the article stated.

While many of us can only dream of that kind of money, a few lucky neighbors might actually be reaping a profit.

According to information gleaned from Facebook's own ad-targeting platform, Carroll Gardens Patch was able to find 20 people in the 11231 and 11217 ZIP codes that list Facebook as their place of business on their profiles.

There may be more employees in the area who did not share either piece of search data. Likewise, it is possible that some may have left the company since originally putting that information on their pages.

But we'd prefer to consider the possibility that there are 20 much wealthier shareholders walking around our cobbled streets as of Friday and wish them all congratulations. High five, guys!
