Guest Chef Brings Alabama Flavor To Seersucker Restaurant
James Beard Award winner chef Chris Hastings will be in Carroll Gardens for one tasty night.

Living in a food-lover's paradise such as New York City, it's easy to fall into a dining rut where you hardly venture to eat outside of your neighborhood let alone your borough. Lucky for us, esteemed chefs from beyond Gotham's borders occasionally pay a visit too.Â
Seersucker Restaurant in Carroll Gardens will host a special four-course dinner with guest chef and James Beard Award winner Chris Hastings of Hot and Hot Fish Club in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday, June 6, for $65 per person.Â
Chef Hastings, whose Tomato Salad is one of the fanciest and tastiest I've ever had, will prepare the first two courses, leading with a "Poached Duck Egg with Vidalia onion, wild foraged herds and lettuces, Alabama caviar, and fried country ham" followed by a "Pig Skin Noodle Bowl, featuring frog legs, snapper jowl, and bayou la Batre head on shrimp in a rich pork broth and black vinegar hot sauce."Â
Newton will then guide everyone's palates home with "Grilled Black Pepper Pork Belly, alongside slow scrambled Feather Ridge eggs and Brooklyn greens, dressed in a bourbon gastrique" and a dessert of "Market Strawberries, shortcake, Szechuan peppercorn gelato, and strawberry chips."Â
How's that for being spoonfed?
