Chef: Karloff Reopening Delayed Due to Contractors

But he's hard at work on the new menu!

Beloved local restaurant Karloff's reopening has been delayed due to a switch in contractors, say those who work there. But customers should not take the brown-papered windows as any indication of closure.

Carroll Gardens Patch spoke with Chef Vince Visceglia this morning, who shared that there was an issue with the original contractors hired to make interior renovations and a new company had to be found.

Plans to reopen will likely be delayed for another two weeks. Visceglia wants it known, however, that he has been hard at work .

"The concept will be food for all, covering many different regional cuisines with sustainable and organic ingredients," he said, adding that five vegan dishes have been included in the lineup.

As there are less than a handful of veg-friendly eateries in the neighborhood, this should be exciting news for several vocal commentors on Carroll Gardens Patch.

There is also a "killer brunch" in the works, Visceglia said, "that will be the icing on the cake" and Karloff's pastry chef plans to mount a "small but to-die-for" dessert menu that will hopefully appease any initial detractors of the ice-cream case removal.

Visceglia is requesting that superfans send their email addresses to the restaurant and once ready to relaunch, they will host "a two-hour tasting for steady and new customers to enjoy."
