Paint Your Ideas for Public Place

A workshop this evening will create a collaborative mural.

The area once known as Citizens Gas Works, a manufactured gas site now commonly called Public Place, is a highly contaminated plot of land along the Gowanus Canal, bordered by Smith, Fifth Street and Ninth Streets. Designated as a “public recreation space” in 1975, Public Place is now at a turning point where it can become whatever the neighborhood desires.

A brainstorming workshop for Public Place will be hosted by Triada Samaras and CORD tonight from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. at the  as part of the Brooklyn Utopias:  Park Space/Play Space exhibition.

Participants will depict collective ideas using collaborative mural making. Finished artworks will be displayed on the CORD blog, where Samaras is a co-Founder.
