Police Blotter: Jewelry, Rolex Taken From Hicks Home

Jewelry, Rolex Taken from Hicks St. Home

A woman on Hicks Street reported a burglary at her home that took place on Sunday, March 11 between 9:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., cops said. The victim returned home from work and saw that her apartment door lock was open. She determined that unknown individuals had entered her home through a rear fire escape window that was left unlocked.

The crooks removed: $1,000 in U.S. currency, a man’s silver Rolex, a gold necklace with a diamond, a gold rope necklace, a gold ring, a two-finger silver ring, 20 pairs of gold hoop earrings, a Betsey Johnson pocketbook, a  Cole Haan handbag, a checkbook, a passport, a Social Security Card, a platinum wedding ring, a gold charm bracelet and one nondescript ring. The total value of jewelry is unknown and the incident is still under investigation, said cops.

McTrespasser on Hamilton Avenue

A man was arrested inside of the Hamilton Avenue McDonald's on Saturday, March 16 at 10:45 a.m., cops said. A male allegedly entered the business and loitered until he was asked to leave by a store manager, cops said. The man would not leave. He was asked to vacate the premises again by a store manager and did not leave, cops said. The police were called and at 11:41 a.m. Angel Mantalvo, 37, was arrested for trespassing, cops said.

Phone Stolen From Student's Gym Locker

A student was the victim of larcent at 242 Hoyt Street, on Thursday, March 7, police said. According to reports, at 2:50 p.m. an 18-year-old girl stuffed her phone inside of a bag and left it inside of a gym locker. After gym class, the victim noticed that her phone was missing from the bag, cops said. There are no surveillance cameras in the space where it was stolen. Cops are still investigating the incident.

Female Robbed at President and Smith Streets

A 57-year-old woman was the victim of a violent robbery at the intersection of President and Smith Streets on Sunday, March 10 at 11:30 a.m. but didn't report the incident until March 15, cops said. The victim was allegedly on Smith Street walking toward President when a stranger grabbed her bag from her right shoulder, cops said. Meanwhile, an accomplice was tugging on the woman's left side and punched her several times in the face. Items taken include: a pair of glasses ($850), a pair of sunglasses ($150), a Panasonic Lumix camera ($350), one sweater ($200) and a JanSport bag ($40). The crime is still undergoing investigation, police said.
