Say Oui To French Art
A new installation by Prune Nourry will take over the first floor of The Invisible Dog gallery.
Attention, art lovers and Francophiles: A new installation will debut this Saturday, May 12 at gallery to set your soul on fire and consume hours upon hours of thought. The culmination of a three-year project on gender selection focused on India, Parisian Artist-Sculptor Prune Nourry's multimedia exhibition titled The Holy River will take over the entire ground floor.
In addition to sculptures, monumental installations, photographs and videos, the opening will feature dance curated by Simon Dove and performed by Preeti Vasudevan, sound by Mitchell Yoshida, smell by Olivier Delcour and taste by Michael Hamilton of Kingswood.Â
Indeed, no senses shall be left behind.

A first evolution of the project was installed in the Holy Daughters exhibition in Paris in 2011, during which life-size sculptures mixing Indian sacred cow and adolescent girl features were exhibited in a former milk factory.
"Photographs applied to x-ray light-boxes, videos projected on milk, and latex glove chandelier installations were scattered among these mythical deities spurred from the artist’s imagination," shared Erin Allweiss, a representative for the Invisible Dog.

Since then, the artist has continued to explore related questions involving pre-selection of human embryos. In that project, vintage glass chemistry lab tubes are hung on the wall, imitating body organs from which light is delicately diffused. Â

The opening will take place at The Invisible Dog, located at 51 Bergen Street between Smith and Court Streets on Saturday, May 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
