Songwriting, Comedy and Pirates This Week
What's happening this week in and around Carroll Gardens.

- A fundraiser to benefit the Waterfront Museum in Red Hook will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. The Pirate Ball will feature specialty cocktails, great local food, music and sunset views of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty. Tickets are $90 for general admission and $250 for VIP champagne reception. All proceeds benefit the museum.
- In Brooklyn for one night only, the critically acclaimed talk show Employee of the Month debuts at The Bell House. Join comedian Catie Lazarus as she interviews and honors Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Robert Smigel, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mo Rocca, and Lady Rizo.
- School may have started, but that doesn't mean the kids don't need to be entertained. The Brooklyn Children's Museum has a lot going on this week, including Bug Out, its insect education program at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, and Nature Tots, its environmental program that runs multiple times Wednesday.
- Free Spirits Songwriting Workshop inspires kids ages 6-12 to pick up a guitar, grab a microphone, and start writing powerful, fun, original music.Â
- The Brooklyn Ostomy Support Group, a group of Ostomy patients and their families, meet Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Maimonides Medical Center.
-Â We've got some rain in the forecast Monday, but much of the rest of the week looks clear. Planning an event? Let us know in the comments.Â
