Columbus Day is a federal holiday and is always observed the second Monday in October. 

  • Post offices and other government buildings are closed.
  • Public schools are closed.
  • All Brooklyn public libraries are closed.
Most retail stores, restaurants, gyms, and supermarkets are open, but may be observing special weekend or holiday hours. Call ahead if you want to be sure before you head out.
