Celebrating Women’s History Month with a strong lineup of unstoppable women of song. Pulling from both forks and points west, this assemblage of talent is sure to entertain and inspire. Performing for us is Inda Eaton, Julia King, Christine Sweeney, Terry Seidl, and Christine Ambrosini. It is a first time on the Folkie Fest stage for each of these artists.
Inda Eaton’s warm humor, free-spirited emotionality, and literate flair make her songs feel as comfy as a favorite pair of jeans. Inda’s vocals have a whiskey and honey-tinged raspy quality that’s both stirring and soothing. Her stories and musings feel instantly resonate. Inda’s songwriting spans fist-pumping anthemics and bucolic balladeering, and it embraces a wide swath of influences, including country, classic rock, folk, and pop. Inda’s music has been a global passport, taking her through Latin America, Australia, and Germany in her early years. There, she became something of a charming troubadour, winning over audiences with her quick wit, affable onstage connectivity, and her ability to fuse rousing hooks within a downhome roots-rock sensibility. These formative experiences have served her well in building an engaged following in the U.S. In her own words: “We can argue politics and policies, but, at the end of the day, we are bound together beyond these,” shares Americana singer-songwriter Inda Eaton. “I do what I do to connect—music has this great disarming quality—it leads to vulnerability quickly as people lay down their shields.”
American Singer-Songwriter Julia King is known for her diverse songwriting style and brilliantly poetic Misfit Americana technique. There are hints of Country, Pop, R&B, Jazz, and Rock & Roll sounds that weave in and out of her writing. Song after song King pulls you into her world of Sultry, Sexy, Tormented and Angsty expressionism. Celebrated for music that is undeniably relatable, King turns everyday therapy into sonic art. King has recorded numerous singles, original and covers, and performed hundreds of gigs including Long Island’s famed Stephen Talkhouse, and NYC’s Bitter End & Rockwood Music Hall. She has written songs for artist Kara Grainger (Favorite Sin) that appear on Grainger’s 2018 album Living With Your Ghost, which reached #3 on the Billboard Blues Album Charts.

Christine Sweeney’s songs can exist in a big, full-band milieu or played solo at a hushed listening room, with equal impact—and the songs were road-tested on both types of stages before taking them into the studio. The folk scene has embraced Christine’s music, with showcases at NERFA and Folk Alliance International Conference. She attests, “It’s like a religious experience in a way because no one’s talking and they’re just really into the song. They want to see how they relate to your story. It’s like they’re breathing with you. It’s almost like you’re telling them a secret sometimes.”
Whether rocking a festival stage with her full band or a hushed, candle-lit folk club, Christine Sweeney will give you goosebumps with her voice and then hit you with the depth of her storytelling.

Terry Seidl is a singer/songwriter from the Huntington area. She’s been singing since her arrival on the planet and began playing guitar and writing in high school. After a long writing hiatus, she recently returned to the craft and finds a whole new kind of joy in it and the community that comes along with it. Terry also performs regularly with her cover-trio, T-Bird & the Buzzards.
New York singer-songwriter Christine Ambrosini has been transfixed and transported by vocal harmonies for as long as she can remember.
Christine is known to local audiences for her earlier work as a member of acoustic trio He-Bird, She-Bird. Her new musical adventure is Christine & Company, which showcases Christine's lyrically rich, harmony-driven original songs, and features Christine on vocals and guitar, joined by Joanne Ambrosini on backup vocals, John Ambrosini on backup vocals, guitar, and keyboard, and Zachary Swanson on bass guitar.
For this performance, Christine is joined by Joanne Ambrosini.
Folkie Fest offers an ongoing concert series with local acoustic artists in the spirit of folk music as envisioned by the late Pete Seeger. We provide a listening space and support live, local, singer/songwriters sharing their original work. A portion of the proceeds are donated to the community center, and a 50/50 raffle is held to benefit Long Island Cares: The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
