Manorville & Eastport/South Manor Residents Have A New Library Choice
Moriches Satellite Branch of the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library offers a new option for Manorville and ESM residents

MORICHES, NY – JUNE 22, 2023 – Manorville and Eastport/South Manor residents have a fresh, exciting opportunity to access a wealth of resources, and experiences close to home. The Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library has opened a new Moriches Satellite Branch at 201 Montauk Highway in Moriches, offering a range of services and benefits for community members of all ages.
"We are thrilled to introduce this new, modern branch to the Manorville and Eastport/South Manor communities," said Kerri Rosalia, Director of the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library. "We understand that Manorville and Eastport/South Manor residents have choices when it comes to their home library, and we've designed our new branch to be a destination that suits everyone. From our vast collection of reading materials to our dedicated outdoor program space, we've built this library with our greater community in mind."
The new Moriches Satellite Branch comes with several attractive features. It boasts a large collection of popular reading materials for all age groups, specific areas with extensive programming for children, teens, and adults, and multiple computers for public use. Additionally, the branch offers individual quiet seating areas, two program rooms for adults, and dedicated computers for students.

In addition, residents can book individual appointments to learn about the use of smartphones, Kindles, and other tech tools. Teens have the opportunity to earn community service credit each month. The branch also features dedicated outdoor program space adjacent to the Children’s Department, along with a large outdoor open space for hosting summer concerts, outdoor summer movies, and other community programs.
"The Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library isn’t just a place to borrow books, it’s a hub for community activity, learning, and entertainment," added Joe Maiorana, the President of the Board of Trustees of the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library. About the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library
The Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library was established by the voters of the William Floyd School District in the summer of 1974. It opened to the public in June 1975, when it was located in two small, portable classrooms on the William Floyd School District property. Since 1982, it has been one of Suffolk County’s most utilized libraries, occupying a 44,000 square foot building on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, which is now undergoing an extensive renovation. The community is currently being served by two new 7,000 square foot satellite branches in Moriches and Mastic Beach, as well as services at the town-owned Mastic Recreation Center.
Since its inception, the library has been a leader in providing innovative services that include automation; children’s and family programming; services for teens and seniors; cultural activities; literacy services; community outreach initiatives; digital services and technology support; career and college readiness assistance; lifelong learning opportunities; and partnerships with local businesses and community organizations. The recipient of numerous grants in support of its unique programs and services, the library has been recognized in such major media as Newsday, the New York Times, WNBC’s Channel 4, and News 12.
