Raynor Country Day School Honors Local Veterans
Raynor Country Day School Honored more than 60 veterans during the school's annual Veterans' Day Celebration!
Raynor Country Day School hosted their annual Veterans' Day Ceremony with a large crowd of students, staff, family, friends, and VETERANS! With more than 60 proud veterans on campus, the school community celebrated the men and women with pomp and circumstance. Under the direction of instrumental teacher, Leanna Bartley, the Senior Band performed The Star Spangled Banner and This Is My Country. Choral teacher, Suzanne Lewis, led the Pee Wee Chorus in a performance of America the Beautiful, as well as schoolwide choral performances of The Armed Forces Medley and We Give Thanks. Student representatives demonstrated their appreciation by sharing reflective writing pieces to the Veterans, which included second-grade student, Gigi Guerra, third-grade student, Roman Rogers, fifth-grade students, Lily Ramsammy, Sophia Maharlouei, and James Burkly, and sixth-grade student, Siena Babinsky. In addition, sixth-grade student, Mo Buffa, performed TAPS, while his classmates presented a Wreath of Honor during a Moment of Silence.
The Veterans and RCDS community were also honored to host Congressman Nick LaLota, County Executive Ed Romaine, and Assemblymember Jodi Giglio. The three representatives took time to address the students, staff, and veterans as part of the celebration. In addition, sixth-grade students, Porter Faulk and Levi Beaver presented a donation to Honor Flight Long Island from a recent student-led Jeans Day Fundraiser.
In addition, veterans exited the event to a HALL OF HEROES as they were celebrated with pomp and circumstance upon departing the event. Veterans were provided with a complimentary lunch and greeting cards, handcrafted by the students.
