Raynor Country Day School Honors Patriot Day

The students, staff, & families of Raynor Country Day School honored Patriot Day with a schoolwide assembly at the flagpole on September 11.

The students and staff of Raynor Country Day School honored Patriot Day with a schoolwide ceremony at the flagpole on September 11. Led by the senior students, the student body joined in the Pledge of Allegiance and a series of patriotic sing-alongs, including God Bless America, This Land Is Your Land, and the Star Spangled Banner, accompanied by music teacher, Suzanne Lewis. Principal, Kerry Coonan, spoke with the students about the significance of the day, as well as the importance of our "community helpers." Students shared their personal reflections of the date, as well as their love for police officers, firefighters, EMT personnel, veterans, and active military service members. The guests and students took time to honor those lives lost with a moment of silence. Additionally, students left with the understanding that Patriot Day has become a national day of service. Children brainstormed a series of ways in which they may serve the needs of others: at home, at school, in their community, and in the world.
