Raynor Country Day School Students STEAM Straight Ahead this Fall

Third- -Sixth-grade students STEAM straight ahead into the fall semester with an assortment of lab activities!

This fall, the Raynor Country Day School students in third- -sixth-grade have eagerly enjoyed their weekly STEAM sessions! STEAM Labs focus on developing individual skills in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics, in a cooperative and collaborative manner.

The students kicked off this year with a storybook STEAM lab that jumped straight out of the pages of Mo Willems classic, The Pigeon Has to Go to School, and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Students spent some time brainstorming a series of transportation modes that could be used to get to school (besides a bus). This included ideas such as scooters, helicopters, trains, quads, hoverboards, motorcycle, hot air balloons, etc. Teams of students then worked collaboratively to design and plan one type of transportation. After completing the design phase, students then utilized craft materials to create their three-dimensional version of the transportation mode.

All of the third- -sixth-grade students enjoyed "rewriting" a portion of this classic tale with a scientific twist!
