CHELSEA, NY - A 20-year-old man was robbed of his wallet in front of a Chelsea park earlier this month by scooter-riding thieves, authorities said.

The victim was walking in front of 311 West 24 St. near Pinwheel Park on Sept. 10 about 2:20 a.m. when he was approached by two men on kick scooters, police said. The pair took the victim’s wallet before fleeing the area.

The victim did not report any injuries, police said.

The scooter-riding bandits have targeted several pedestrians in Manhattan this month, police said, with early morning cell phone robberies reported in Midtown South (1 Avenue and East 50 St.) and the West Village (Greenwich Street and West 11 Street) on Sept. 13 and 2, respectively.

On Sept. 9 about 6:30 p.m., the men approached a 52-year-old man on a bench inside Tompkins Square Park and robbed him of his cell phone.

The first suspect is described as a man about five feet eight inches with a medium build and short hair.

The second suspect is described as a man about five feet ten inches with a slim build and short braids.
