400 Twitter Workers In NYC Face Layoffs After Musk's Takeover: Notice
Employees at Twitter's Chelsea office once drank rosé on tap, according to reports. Now, they're losing their jobs, a layoff notice states.

NEW YORK CITY — Twitter's office in Chelsea once boasted an in-house chef, lavish decor and rosé on tap, according to reports.
But the good times at the 17th Street office appear to be over after billionaire Elon Musk's troubled takeover of the social media company.
Twitter plans to lay off 418 employees at the office, according to a notice filed with the state's Department of Labor. They'll be permanently separated beginning Feb. 2, 2023, the notice states.

Musk, the world's richest man, acquired Twitter for $44 billion in late October and quickly set about shaking up the platform.
He began widespread layoffs late last week that hit half of the company's 7,500-strong workforce. He argued by tweet that he had no choice but to cut jobs "when the company is losing over $4M/day."
But the layoffs raised concerns that Twitter might not be able to moderate misinformation ahead of Tuesday's midterm elections.
Twitter's Chelsea office was the company's second-largest after its San Francisco headquarters, at least in May 2017, according to a Business Insider report from that time.
The Business Inside report detailed the space's lavish digs, from a speakeasy-style café in the basement to a neon sign declaring "#LoveWhereYouWork."
