CHELSEA, NY - Six individuals swiped merchandise from a Chelsea deli early Tuesday, authorities said.

The sextet entered L&M Delicatessen and Catering at 80 Seventh Ave. near 15th Street about 7:12 a.m. and hurriedly began taking several items, police said.

Though an employee tried to stop the crew, one member threatened him with a knife, police said. A knife was not displayed during the robbery.

The group fled northbound on Seventh Avenue. Suspect descriptions were not immediately available Tuesday morning.

An investigation is ongoing.
