83-Year-Old Chelsea Man Dies Months After Bronx Car Crash
The crash occurred overnight on Aug. 28, when 83-year-old Ajay Shah sustained head trauma in a crash in the Bronx.
CHELSEA, NY — An 83-year-old Chelsea man died earlier this month due to injuries he sustained in a car crash in the Bronx in August, the New York City Department of Transportation confirmed in a news release Saturday.
The crash occurred overnight on Aug. 28, when 83-year-old Ajay Shah, who was driving westbound on West 230 Street in an 1986 Oldsmobile sedan, attempted to go through the intersection at Broadway when his car was struck by a 2018 Mercedes Benz SUV heading south on Broadway.
Shah, a Sixth Avenue resident, sustained head trauma and was taken to the hospital in stable condition, while the 34-year-old man driving the Mercedes Benz was uninjured, officials said.

Shah was admitted Nov. 8 to the hospital, where he died of his injuries from earlier, officials said.
No arrests have been made and the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating, officials said.
