Bad Bunny’s Chelsea Penthouse May Be Priciest NYC Rental Right Now

The "Tití Me Preguntó" rapper rented an $18.5 million condo overlooking the High Line. Here's how much he's reportedly shelling out:

CHELSEA, NY - New York seems to have had such an “Efecto” on Bad Bunny that he’s now calling the Big Apple home.

The Puerto Rican rapper recently rented a luxury penthouse overlooking the High Line in West Chelsea, making it one of the most, if not the most, expensive apartments in the Big Apple right now, according to several reports.

The penthouse at 527 West 27th St. is located at Jardim, a pair of luxury condo towers spanning 36 residences across 11 stories with shared gardens. Building records show it was built in 2017 and was designed by Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld.

While the penthouse apartment is still on the market for $18.5 million, Curbed reports Bad Bunny — real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — managed to land a $150,000-per-month lease for the swanky pad last week. The price tag is close to the $132,489 projected monthly payment for buyers, according to a Compass listing.

The 4,500-square-foot custom construction touts four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms and a 32-foot private outdoor pool, an outdoor kitchen and an entertainment patio equally as large as the indoor apartment. Other perks include 12-foot vaulted ceilings, an eat-in kitchen and a library complete with a spiral staircase.

Despite the steep price tag, fans still shouldn’t expect to see the “Me Porto Bonito” rapper in New York year-round as the star already owns properties in San Juan, Los Angeles and Miami. It's unclear what prompted the New York lease, but the musician's ties to the Big Apple are apparent. In 2022, he shot the music video for his Grammy-winning song "Tití Me Preguntó” in East Harlem.

Want to see more of Bad Bunny’s new pad? The penthouse will air on brokers Chase Landow and Ryan Serhant of Serhant’s new Netflix series next year, according to the New York Post. Can’t wait? You can watch a virtual tour of the penthouse apartment here.

The penthouse abode was rented on Oct. 12, per StreetEasy. There's two open rental listings on StreetEasy that match or surpass Bad Bunny's extravagant monthly expense: 100 Vandam St. in Hudson Square and 56 Leonard St. in Tribeca. The condos are going for $175,000 and $150,000 per month, respectively. It's unclear when or if the competing rentals will be leased at the same price, as both have been on the market for over 50 days.
