Catch Your Own Fish At This Chelsea Restaurant

A new Japanese restaurant looking to open in Chelsea comes with a pond where you fish for your dinner.

CHELSEA, NY — A new restaurant is coming to Chelsea, and its bringing with it a pond full of fish.

At Zauo, a new Japanese restaurant looking to open in Chelsea, diners get the freshest fish possible, meaning that they literally are handed a fishing rod and asked to catch their meal themselves before it is prepared at the restaurant.

The new restaurant is looking to open in Chelsea at a space at 152 W. 24th St., DNAinfo was first to report. Plans for the new restaurant show that, like its predecessors, the eating space will feature a sizable pound where your very fresh dinner will be stocked, according to renderings filed with Community Board 4. Here's how it works, according to Zauo's website: Diners enter the restaurant and get a fish pole, and some bait. After fishing for their dinner, they can select how they'd like their fish prepared from the menu. Even if you're a novice, Zauo promises that you're sure to catch a fish. (It's also cheaper if you catch it yourself.)

Zauo is planning to open early next year, according to DNAinfo.
