Chelsea Bombing Jury Won't Hear About Shootout
A New York jury won't hear evidence about the suspect's shootout with police, a judge decided.

CHELSEA, NY — The jury that will weigh criminal charges against the man accused of planting two pressure cooker bombs in Chelsea won't hear about the suspect's shootout with police before he was captured, a judge ruled on Tuesday.
Ahmad Rahimi, the man accused of planting the bombs, is facing a string of charges related to the explosives. Prosecutors say that Rahimi put two bombs in Manhattan in September 2016, one of which detonated and injured 30 people. The second bomb did not explode. Rahimi was arrested in New Jersey more than 24 hours after the bomb exploded. Police say they cuffed him after he engaged in a shootout with offices. A federal judge said it would be "unduly prejudicial" to let prosecutors expose jurors to evidence related to the shootout, according to the Associated Press.
