Chelsea Explosion: Attend a 'Small Business Crawl' to Support Businesses Affected by Bombing

Local politicians are throwing an event to rally support around businesses damaged in the act of terror last weekend.

CHELSEA, MANHATTAN — Several elected officials will participate in a small business crawl on Saturday to support the local establishments affected by the recent explosion in Chelsea. City Council Member Corey Johnson and the New York City Department of Small Business Services are putting on the event on West 23rd Street between Fifth and Eight avenues.

Businesses close to the site of Saturday's bombing that injured 29 people are still repairing damage they suffered from the explosion. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that the state would provide monetary help for businesses damaged in the explosion if they're not covered by insurance.

A mobile unit from the New York Department of Financial Services was at the site of the bombing Thursday afternoon with a sign that said it would help businesses and homeowners who suffered damage file claims with their insurance.
