Chelsea Market is more than doubling the square footage of its downstairs grocery shop.

CHELSEA, NY —Chelsea Market is expanding its specialty grocery store with new vendors, more than doubling the square footage of the downstairs space next month.
The market's grocer — dubbed The Chelsea Local — will increase from 13,000 square feet to 25,000 square feet in September with a variety of new vendors moving into 75 Ninth Ave. between 15th and 16th streets, according to a release.
"The Chelsea Local continues the legacy of Chelsea Market as a neighborhood market with a global perspective," Michael Phillips, president of the market operator Jamestown, said in a statement. "We're proud to be adding to our lineup of local vendors and to offer an increased benefit to our neighbors and community."
