This NYC Neighborhood Is The 6th Coolest In The World

CHELSEA, NY — Major cool points were recently handed out to Chelsea in Lower Manhattan. Time Out recently published its annual list of the 49 coolest neighborhoods in the world, and Chelsea took home the No. 6 spot.

Time Out finalized the ranking by polling 27,000 city-dwellers and asking local experts to rank the greatest places for food, fun, culture and community.

Chelsea was the only neighborhood in New York City to make the list, and one of just five in the United States to get featured.

Here's what the Time Out editors had to say about Chelsea.

"For the past two years, we’ve picked neighborhoods in outer boroughs (Astoria, Bed-Stuy) for our coolest neighborhood in New York, but this year it’s back to Manhattan. When it comes to green space, sustainability and community development, this part of town has been setting trends all cities could follow, from new floating park Little Island to the south and Moynihan Station in the north. The High Line and Hudson River Park both provided open space for people who needed it more than ever in 2021, while new dining and entertainment openings included a waterfront location for City Winery, the new Dia and the revamped Chelsea Flower Market."

Editors from Time Out also planned out a "perfect" Chelsea day, which features taking the train to Penn Station, grabbing coffee cocktails at Day Drinks, walking the High Line and walking through the Chelsea Market.

The other U.S. cities to make the list of coolest neighborhoods were Andersonville, Chicago, at No. 2, Silver Lake, Los Angeles, at No. 14, Bricknell, Miami, at No. 28, and Central Square, Boston, at No. 39.
