CHELSEA, NY - A manhole fire caused a roadway to partially collapse in Chelsea Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The fire was reported around 1:51 p.m. at 7th Avenue and 19th Street, a spokesperson from the New York City Fire Department told Patch.

Con Edison was notified and the incident was placed under control just after 3 p.m., the spokesperson said.

A primary heater was out of service at the intersection, CBS News reported, though no customers were impacted.

Nobody was injured as a result of the incident. The incident remains under investigation.
