Chelsea Smoke Shop Robbed At Gunpoint, $3,500 In Goods Taken: NYPD

The robbery took place at the People's Food Market between West 25th and 26th streets, according to the address provided by police.

CHELSEA, NY — A Chelsea smoke shop was robbed at gunpoint at the beginning of December, police said on Sunday.

Two people walked into a store at 304 Eighth Ave., between West 25th and 26th streets, about 7:05 p.m. on Dec. 1, police said.

Once inside, one of the men took out a gun and removed $3,500 worth of store products, police said.

Both people then took off running into the 28th Street and Seventh Avenue subway station, police said.

There were no injuries, NYPD said.

The Chelsea address is home to the People's Food Market, which advertises beer, cigars, candy, snacks, organic food, and products on its storefront.

The store opened in 2021.

People's Food Market did not answer a call from Patch.
