CHELSEA, NY — Looking for something to do this weekend? While the city waits for spring weather to officially arrive, here's a range of events that can keep you busy this weekend.


Pay What You Want Fridays at the Whitney

When: 7-9:30 p.m. on Friday

Where: 99 Gansevoort St., Meatpacking District

What: Every Friday evening, the Whitney offers discounted access to its museum and allows visitors to pay whatever they want. Pay-what-you-wish tickets can only be purchased at the admissions desk at the museum. Normally, tickets cost $25 for adults and $18 for seniors and students. Currently, the museum is displaying Grant Wood’s iconic piece "American Gothic." The painting, on loan from the Art Institute of Chicago, will only be here through June 10, so see it while you can.

Walking Tour Of Tompkins Square Park

When: 10 a.m. on Saturday

Where: Tompkins Square Library, 331 E. Tenth St.

What: The Tompkins Square Library is hosting a community walking tour that will cover 100 years of the famous park's history. Local photographer Michael Paul and library manager Corinne Neary will guide you through the park's place in the community since it opened in 1837. You can register for the event here.


Macy’s Flower Show

When: All weekend long.

Where: 131 W. 34th St., Midtown

What: The Macy's in Midtown transforms its storefront windows into colorful floral displays that make window-shopping more exciting than normal. The display ends April 8.


Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival

When: 10 a.m. on Sunday

Where: Fifth Avenue in Midtown

What: The annual parade covers eight blocks in Midtown for you to see the craziest, most intricate Easter bonnets the city has to offer. The parade began in the 19th century when the city's elite would walk Fifth Avenue in their best Easter hats. You can learn more about the parade here.
