Gay Hate Attacker Still Hunted By Police In Chelsea
Police are searching for the man who pummeled another person in an anti-gay assault last week, according to the NYPD.
CHELSEA, NY — Police are still searching for the attacker who left a man beaten in an anti-gay attack in the heart of Chelsea last week, authorities said.
The man, who was using a walker that sported a pro-LGBT sticker on it, was treated for his injuries after he was hurt on June 26, authorities said.
Last week, police said that the 44-year-old man was waiting for a bus in Chelsea when the attacker, who police have not identified, approached him. The man was waiting for a bus near West 27th Street and Sixth Avenue, police said. The attacker, a stranger, approached him and began pummeling the man while yelling homophobic statements, according to police. The NYPD's hate crimes task force is still investigating that assault.
