CHELSEA, NY — An Inwood man died after getting punched in the face and fracturing his skull while working as a bouncer at a Chelsea bar on Christmas Eve, police said and multiple publications have reported.

Duane Patterson, 61, was standing outside of Billymark's West Bar about 3 a.m. at the corner of Ninth Avenue and West 29th Street, when a man attacked him, police said.

During the fight, he got hit with a closed fist to the face, which sent him crashing to the cement, police said. The attacker then ran away from the bar, police added.
