Lower Manhattan ZIP Code Has Highest COVID Rate In Borough: Data
The ZIP code that primarily makes up Chelsea currently has the highest COVID rate in Manhattan, and one of the highest in New York City.

CHELSEA, NY — The ZIP code that makes up almost the entirety of Chelsea has the highest COVID-19 rate in Manhattan, and one of the highest rates in New York City, according to data from the city.
The seven-day COVID rate for Chelsea's 10011 ZIP code from Oct. 25 through 31 is 14.99 percent.
There are only nine ZIP codes throughout New York City that posted higher rates during the period.

During those seven days, 70 of the 467 people who got tested from the ZIP code registered a positive result.
Here are the other Manhattan ZIP codes that registered the highest rates during the period.

- Chelsea, 10011: 14.99 percent
- East Midtown/Murray Hill, 10017: 14.92 percent
- Central Harlem, 10037: 14.62 percent
- Battery Park City, 10280: 13.33 percent
- Lincoln Center/Upper West Side, 10023: 13.21 percent
The highest COVID rate of any ZIP code in the city is 23.1 percent in Breezy Point, Queens.
Overall, COVID rates have remained relatively flat since the beginning of October in New York City at slightly below 9 percent.
However, there has been an increase on the citywide average positivity rate starting around Oct. 24, which sees the rate sitting at 10.56 percent as of Oct. 31, according to city data.
