Man Robbed In Broad Daylight In Chelsea Wednesday: NYPD

CHELSEA, NY - A man was robbed in Chelsea as he was getting into his vehicle Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The 52-year-old victim was approached by two individuals demanding money “while simulating a weapon” about 3:55 p.m. near 6th Avenue and West 25 Street, police said.

It was not immediately clear how much cash was forked over by the victim. The man didn’t sustain any physical injuries in the incident, police said.

No arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon. The investigation remains ongoing.

As of Thursday, New York City has 12,107 reported robbery incidents so far in 2023, according to city data. That's down about 5.5 percent from the same time the previous year.

In the 13th precinct where the incident took place, police have seen 129 robberies so far in 2023. That’s compared to 143 reported this time last year.
